Dear Lincoln `Ohana,

In just a few short weeks, we will be back together as a school family to begin another year of learning. Health and safety are our top priorities, and we had to make some changes in policies and procedures due to COVID-19. We are excited to have you all back and hope you are too!

Please call 307-2900 or email VP Aimoto at Candace.Aimoto@k12.hi.us if you have any questions. Further information regarding our programs and school procedures will be provided.

Special Schedule for the start of the School Year

The school year begins on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. Per DOE guidelines, students will follow an early release schedule during the first nine days of the school year. Students are to follow the early dismissal bell schedule which will be used every Friday throughout the school year.

Staggered Bell Schedule

Our staggered bell schedule is designed to prevent overcrowding of students during drop-off and pick-up in front of our office. Students should arrive and leave the campus during their designated times. Families with children in multiple grade levels may drop off all children at the earliest designated time and pick up at the latest designated time. A waiting area will be assigned for the children who have siblings with different start and dismissal times.

Friday - Early Dismissal

Our Wednesday early dismissal has been moved to Friday. Students will be dismissed at staggered times on Fridays to continue our weekly faculty meetings.

Drop-Off Procedures

When dropped off at school, students should be seated on the right passenger side. School personnel will be conducting temperature checks of students before they exit their vehicle. Per CDC guidelines, students must wear a face covering and have temperatures less than 100.4℉ to be allowed on campus.

We kindly ask that vehicles dropping off and picking up students have a placard on their dashboard with the child’s last name and grade level. We will be providing color coordinated placards for your child during the first week of school.

Students who walk to school must enter campus via Auwaiolimu Street sidewalk to get their temperature taken by school personnel in front of the office. If students walk up through Stevenson campus, they must walk the path behind the Library to the front of the office.

Students in grades kindergarten, 1, and 2 are to wait on their assigned table in the cafeteria. Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 are to wait in their homeroom’s assigned area. Both areas are marked to maintain appropriate social distancing before their classes begins.

*Parents/Guardians may not accompany children anywhere on campus. Vehicles may not park along the school driveway or on campus. Parents who walk their child to school, may not go further than the front office.

Before and After School Care

Before School Care is available from 6:30 AM for students who must be dropped off before their scheduled time. If you are interested in enrolling your child, please call our office at 307-2900.

The YMCA A+ After School Program is scheduled for the 2020-21 school year. Parents may apply online. Call Jon Cho at 541-5275 for information.

Meal Service

Our cafeteria has been reconfigured to allow for acceptable social distancing while eating. Students will be granted access into the cafeteria only during their designated time. Adults may not accompany children on campus, including in the dining room.

Breakfast: Children who plan to have a school breakfast should arrive at school no later than 15 minutes prior to their start time. No exceptions for late students.

Lunch: Lunches are available for students daily, including on our early dismissal days. Throughout August 4-14 and on Fridays, students may purchase a Grab ‘n Go lunch prior to leaving campus.

Please fill out the Intent to Purchase School Meals survey to assist us in planning our meal service.

Distance Learning Fridays

Distance learning is scheduled for all students on one Friday each month (9/11, 10/16, 11/13, 12/11, 1/15, 2/12, 3/12, 4/9, 5/14). Students will be assigned projects and assignments to complete off campus. This will allow for a deep cleaning of the classrooms and common areas.
